After a workshop performance earlier this year Bethlehem returns for an official run in Brooklyn. Among the cast members there are a few faces, we have grown familiar with; Samuel and Paloma. They are led by Julian Mesri, a respected and known figure in our circle.

Everyone knows what happened that night in the manger on the very first Christmas, but what did we miss at the crowded inn next door?

The regulars who hang out in the Roman-occupied town’s only inn gather ’round the Saturnalia tree venting their hardships, dreams, and petty squabbles. So who has time to notice a baby being born in the manger next door? Sans Comedia presents Julian Mesri’s bilingual musical pageant about faith, rebellion, romance, and perpetual occupation.
