The winners of the 4th Annual Cinema Tropical AWARDS were announced this week at a special ceremony at The New York Times Company headquarters in New York City. The Award-winning films can be seen fro, February 24-27 at Village East Cinema.

Best Fiction Film:
VIOLA
A film by Matías Piñeiro (Argentina)

Best Documentary Film:
EL ALCALDE / THE MAYOR
A film by Emiliano Altuna, Carlos F. Rossini, Diego Osorno (Mexico)

Best First Film:
TANTA AGUA
A film by Ana Guevara and Leticia Jorge (Uruguay)

Best Director, Feature Film:
Carlos Reygadas, POST TENEBRAS LUX (Mexico)

Best Director, Documentary Film:
Jose Luis García, LA CHICA DEL SUR / THE GIRL FROM THE SOUTH (Argentina)

Special Jury Mention:
Ignacio Agüero, EL OTRO DÍA / THE OTHER DAY (Chile)

Best U.S. Latino Film:
MOSQUITA Y MARI, a film by Aurora Guerrero
and WONDER WOMEN! THE UNTOLD STORY OF AMERICAN SUPERHEROINES,
a film by Kristy Guevara Flanagan
